Episode 1 Samuel 17
The Day a Boy Slayed a Giant—And Made a King His Enemy
Based on first Samuel 17
No one expected anything from David.
Not his brothers.
Not the soldiers.
Not even himself.
He was just a shepherd boy, carrying bread from Bethlehem to his older brothers at the front lines.
But when he stepped into the Israelite camp... everything changed.
The air was tight with fear.
Veteran soldiers sat in silence, armor dusted and dull.
No swords drawn.
No battle cries.
Just... waiting.
Then came the voice.
“Send me a man!”
It roared across the valley—deep, guttural, inhuman.
And then... laughter. Cold. Mocking.
David stepped forward and saw him.
Goliath of Gath.
Nine feet tall.
Bronze armor that looked welded to his skin.
A spear like a tree.
And a shield so large, another man had to carry it.
“They call him the shadow,” a soldier whispered. “Too big to fight. Too loud to forget.”
Another muttered, “They say he has brothers—giants like him.
David’s hands clenched.
He turned to Eliab, his eldest brother.
“Why is no one doing anything?”
Eliab scoffed.
“Because we’re not stupid. Go back to your sheep.”
But David wasn’t listening.
His eyes were fixed on the valley.
His pulse, steady.
Something had taken root.
Word of the boy reached Saul before noon.
“You?” the king said, blinking at the shepherd. “You’re just a boy.”
David stood tall.
“I’ve fought lions. I’ve fought bears. God saved me then. He’ll save me now.”
Saul handed him his armor.
David tried it.
Too heavy.
Too slow.
He handed it back.
“I don’t need this,” he said quietly. “I trust God.”
He walked down the slope alone.
And when he reached the stream, he paused.
The water was cold and fast.
David knelt and searched beneath the surface.
One by one, he pulled out five smooth stones.
Not because he thought he’d need all five...
But because he came prepared to finish what God started.
The camp watched as he stepped into the valley.
Goliath squinted. Then laughed.
“Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?”
David didn’t blink.
“You come with sword and spear,” he said,
“But I come in the name of the Lord of Hosts... the God of Israel, whom you have defied.
Today, the Lord will deliver you into my hands. I will strike you down and cut off your head.
And the world will know—Israel’s God saves not with sword or spear, but by His power alone.”
Goliath raised his weapon.
David ran.
The sling spun.
The stone flew.
A crack.
Goliath staggered.
And then... fell.
Face-first into the dust.
The earth shook.
The Israelites erupted in stunned victory.
David walked forward.
Lifted the giant’s own sword.
And with both hands—cut off his head.
The cheers rose like thunder.
But David didn’t smile.
He looked up.
Across the ridge, Saul stood watching.
Not cheering.
Not smiling.
Just... staring.
And in that silence, something shifted.
A seed.
A crack.
A threat.
David had slain a giant.
But in Saul’s heart, a darker enemy had just been born.
The real battle... was just beginning.
...
What comes next will change everything.
A king’s jealousy.
A nation divided.
Assassins. Exile.
A friendship torn apart by politics and blood.
...
This is not the story you heard in Sunday school.
This is the rise of David—raw, violent, and real.
And every step he takes... brings him closer to the throne.
And further from peace.
